Program Currently Paused!

Our afterschool program is currently paused as we work to create a new curriculum that will better serve our students and our community. You are still welcome to enroll your students during this time, and we will notify you when the program restarts. 

SiT's after-school program offers vocational training for students age 10+ that are rising middle and high schoolers in Rowan County, open to public, private, charter, and home-schooled students. The program provides hands-on experiences in various technology fields to enhance future career prospects. Students engage in activities covering both hardware and software aspects:

• Hardware and Repair: Learning about computer components, building custom computers, performing repairs, and managing servers and networks.
• Refurbishment and Recycling: Refurbishing computers for community distribution and responsibly recycling electronic waste to reduce environmental impact.
• Creative Projects: Gaining experience in web design, graphic design, game development, 3D printing, and CAD drawings.
• Programming and Coding: Learning coding technologies like Scratch, HTML, PHP, SQL, Python, and utilizing tools like Minecraft Education Edition. The curriculum balances block-based coding with written code to accommodate different age groups and skill levels.

Through real-world projects and exposure to professional equipment students gain practical experience that significantly boosts their career prospects in the tech industry.
